A New Year:Full Of Things That Have Never Been

Late afternoon sun rays wash over me. There is green, green grass around… I am bare feet. Its such a rejuvenating  feeling to connect physically and solidly with the earth.The small pond in front of me has pink and white lotus blooming. There is a stillness, a calmness in the air. Its a perfect day. I am in the amber of the moment. And its perfect.

I guess I am in a reflective mood 🙂 The year will soon draw to a close. There is something of celebration in this annual beginning…as if last year’s mistakes have been wiped clean by the fast slipping days of 2014. So Eliot says “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language ,And next year’s words await another voice.And to make an end is to make a beginning.”

As always, its  a favorite time of the year for me. New Year’s Eve and the New Year’s day.Not because of the endless partying and merriment that has already begun. But because..  ‘Hope…Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier ( Alfred Tennyson). It is a time to let go of all the things and persons and events  that made us hurt, grieve, sad, angry, vengeful.And yes, those which made us test our faith.For you see, the poet Longfellow explains it so beautifully, when he says:

And in despair I bowed my head;
“There is no peace on earth,” I said:
“For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead; nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!”

And what about New Year resolutions? Well, I never make them 🙂 Anais Nin admonishes me when I think that I should! She says “I made no resolutions for the New Year. The habit of making plans, of criticizing, sanctioning and molding my life, is too much of a daily event for me”.

The accidental sufi has so many people and things in her life to be thankful for…her family and their unconditional love, her beloved animals and the tenderness they invoke in her, her mind which remains fearless and questing, her music which connects her to the most awesome friends across the globe…and a  beautiful,beautiful man from whom the songbirds rise in her mind, heart and soul.Umm..yeah,in the body too 😉 * winks*.

So I am like “Wow, it really snowed last night! Isn’t it wonderful? Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand new!A new year … a fresh, clean start! It’s like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on! A day full of possibilities! It’s a magical world, Hobbes, ol’ buddy … let’s go exploring!”( Calvin & Hobbes: Its a magical world)

A perfect song for all of you : http://youtu.be/A3yCcXgbKrE

And some beautiful lines sent to me by a friend for the New Year.(Thank you,Michelle)

“May Light always surround you;
Hope kindle and rebound you.
May your Hurts turn to Healing;
Your Heart embrace Feeling.
May Wounds become Wisdom;
Every Kindness a Prism.
May Laughter infect you;
Your Passion resurrect you.
May Goodness inspire
your Deepest Desires.
Through all that you Reach For,
May your arms Never Tire.”

See you all in 2015 🙂
