Alone In A Crowd

Last night, I was at a place where I did not want to be. I don’t/cannot relate to  the people there. I kept remembering  the above lines by Bei Dao as I smiled, made polite conversation and drank Coke with huge amounts of ice. And had  this acute urge to listen to Deep Purple.

When the party broke up, I went to a friend’s house  and listened to this on his incredible music system:

I was back to being ‘me’…speaking in the  language of rain falling over tormented cities.
