It Is Always The Mind

So the Bhagvad Gita says in Chapter 6   (Sāṅkhya-yoga )

Verse 34
cancalam hi manah krsna
pramathi balavad drdham
tasyaham nigraham manye
vayor iva su-duskaram
TRANSLATION
For the mind is restless, turbulent, obstinate and very strong, O Kṛishna, and to subdue it is, it seems to me, more difficult than controlling the wind.
Verse 35
sri-bhagavan uvaca
asamsayam maha-baho
mano durnigraham calam
abhyasena tu kaunteya
vairagyena ca grhyate
TRANSLATION
The Blessed Lord said: O mighty-armed son of Kuntī, it is undoubtedly very difficult to curb the restless mind, but it is possible by constant practice and by detachment.
I am not really a fan of pop music, but the song  is featured here because the lyrics depict the power of  our mind in deciding who we are, what we choose to be and how we live our life. Further, I also have tremendous respect for Kylie Minogue, who at the peak of being a woman ( age 36) fought back breast cancer. Doctors spoke about the ‘Kylie effect’ in which the singer created  awareness about this dreaded disease and inspired millions of women not to give up.In May 2015, Kylie Minogue celebrated 10 years of being cancer free. One can only marvel at her strength. And safely presume that this strength flows from her mind.
